If you've ever opened MyRadar's Layers menu, you most likely noticed four thumbnails of the different radar types we provide in the app. This article hopes to clear up the different radar types available, how they function, and what they might be used for.

Let's begin!

Classic

Classic radar is what you're most likely to see when checking out weather radar anywhere. It's distinguished by it's pixelated appearance. If you like seeing more granular weather data, the Classic radar is your go-to!

Hi-Def

The Hi-Def Radar uses some in-house rendering of weather data to transform it into a smoother, higher definition radar reading. If you want a prettier radar, the Hi-Def Radar is the choice for you!

Temperature

The Temperature radar goes in 1 hour increments. If you want a bigger picture image of the temperatures throughout the day, the Temperature radar could be what you're looking for!
